Welcome!

Welcome to our class blog! I have spent the past few weeks getting to know the students, and adjusting our classroom to best suit their needs. We have been having a wonderful time at school, and we are now getting settled in a classroom routine. Before launching into a number of posts about what is going on in our classroom, I wanted to give a brief description of how the classroom is run.

Our train. They were very proud of their straight line!
At about 9:15am, we form our train to walk around the field, through the yellow-slide playground, and finally to our door. When the students come in, they are welcomed and reminded that they may either take their shoes off and begin work, or keep their shoes on to go outside. Mr. Mat is permanently stationed in our outdoor classroom, giving students the chance to go in and out according to their body's needs. It has been especially wonderful for some of our more energetic kids! Rest assured, they are doing some wonderful things outside. Mr. Mat will be taking some pictures that we can post in the very near future.

During class, students can complete work, snack, and outside time at their leisure. This means that your child may do one, two, or all three of these things during the course of the day, when they feel the need. At this point, we do not have a daily group time unless the students request to share something. This is going very well, and everyone seems to be having a great time at school.

Please enjoy the coming bombardment of posts, and understand that in future I will be updating the blog probably once or twice per week.
